C_4植物苋菜的光合单位比C_3植物大豆的小;苋菜类囊体膜中与光系统反应中心复合物、ATP酶复合物、传递电子的细胞色素复合物及放氧复合物有关的多肽比大豆膜中相应多肽的含量高;两种植物间捕光复合物的多肽组成也不相同。作者认为,苋菜类囊体膜的这些特点与其高光合生产力有关。
A comparison between amaranth( a C_4 plant )and soybean( a C_3 plant)thylakoid membrane compositions was made in an attempt to study molecular characteristics of C_4 plant thylakoid membranes. Contents of P—700, high—potential cytochrome b—559 and cytochrome f of thylakoids were respectively determined by using chemical—assays. The results showed that the photosynthetic unit size of amaranth, especially in photosystem Ⅰ, was less than that of soybean. According to the distribution of chlorophyll in chlorophyll—protein complexes, it was also found that the ratio of reaction center chlorophyll to light—harvesting chlorophyll in amaranth was higher than that in the soybean.
Gradient SDS—polyacrylamide gel electrophoretic analysis revealed that amaranth and soybean had marked difference in polypeptide compositions of thylakoid membranes. Some polypeptides related to reaction center, ATP ase, electron—transfering cytochrome and oxygen—evolving complexes in amaranth thylakoids stained more intensely on the electrophoretic gel plate than those of soybean thylakoids. Furthermore, the polypeptide compositions of amaranth light—harvesting complex were more complicated than those of soybean light—harvesting complex. These features of amaranth thylakoid membrane are associated with its high photochemical activities.
