摘要
文章以语篇分析理论为指导,考察了限定性描述语在语篇中所发挥的种种功能。结果发现,限定性描述语通常用来指称语篇上文所提到的某个实体或重新引入某个实体,也可用于首次引入真实语境中的实体或可推知实体。在语篇中,限定性描述语常常与其他指称词语配合,共同完成指称功能。
Under the guidance of discourse analysis theories,this paper examines in detail the functions of definite descriptions in both spoken and written discourses.It discovers that definite descriptions are primarily in subsequent reference to already-mentioned entities and reintroduced entities in discourse or to salient objects in the physical context or to inferable entities.In discourse,they are normally used together with other referring expressions to co-refer to the same entities.
