摘要
近些年来,在我国翻译学界关于翻译本质的研究中,有论者已不满足于对"翻译(的本质)是什么"进行"形而下"的思考,试图从"形而上的哲学高度"来认识翻译,得出的结论是:翻译可以有无数的定义,翻译无统一的定义,翻译不可定义;翻译这个大家族中的成员之间没有共同的本质。笔者对此有些不同的意见,拟重点围绕以下四个问题加以分析与说明:1)什么是翻译理论中的哲学问题;2)认识翻译的本质要遵循什么样的认识路径;3)翻译有没有确定的本质;4)翻译能否被认识和定义。
By way of criticizing a tendency in translation studies to mix translation studies with philosophical studies,the author points out that what is the essence of translation is an issue covered by translation studies rather than by philosophy.Basically philosophical problems in translation studies include: Does translation have its definite essence? Should the process of knowing the essence of translation start from the practice of translation or from a certain philosophical principle? Is it possible to know the essence of translation? Can we give a definition to translation? The paper also highlights the significance of differentiating judgment from definition in translation studies.
