Australia pays great attention to support and guidance for research activities, and promotes work efficiency of research institutions by regular performance appraisal and evaluation. This paper describes the system of research performance assessment, including objectives, methodology, criteria, and the use of the assessment, the paper also outlines the assessment of research impact, just for reference.
