New Interpretation of Huiyuan’s Karma Theory

摘要 慧远以其"内通佛理,外善群书"的远见卓识,力图将中印文化加以融通,以达至二者的"视界融合"。慧远的因果报应论,即是建立在"视界融合"基础上的一种关于道德与生命关系的理论,它以通俗、圆融的理论特征,广泛而又深刻地影响着人们的宗教信仰和伦理生活。它的创立和传播,有其理论基础、道德基石和信奉心理。 Huiyuan was not only proficient in the Buddhism,but also studied intensively on other branch of learning.By his foresight and sagacity,Huiyuan tried hard to integrate the culture between China and India,with the goal to achieve the integration of the two countries’ culture in the field of view.Huiyuan's karma theory was namely the one concerning the relationship between morality and life which based on the integration in the field of view.With its theoretical characteristics of popularity and harmony,the karma theory extensively and profoundly influenced people's religional faith and ethical life.The foundation and spreading of the theory included its believing mentality and theoretical and mortal basis.
