Observation and analysis of two types of teacher questions in English class

摘要 英语课堂的教师提问可分为展示性问题和参考性问题两类。本研究围绕展示性问题和参考性问题,调查和分析了不同课型中两类问题的使用状况及引发的学生语言输出量和思维活动。结果表明,展示性问题和参考性问题的使用比例与课型有关;展示性问题也可能引发学生较多的语言输出、较高层次的认知活动。 Teacher questions in English class can be classified into two types, display and referential questions. Fo- cusing on these two question types, this study investigates the percentage of them in different types of lessons, and analyzes the students' language output and thinking activity elicited by them. It reveals that the percentage of the two types of questions is related to lesson types, and some display questions might elicit more language output and higher cognitive thinking.
