摘要
《德伯家的苔丝》是英国文学家托马斯·哈代的代表作,具有极高的艺术价值,被前后多次翻译成中文。本文以泰特勒的翻译三原则为理论依据,从译文忠实性、景物描写和人物语言的翻译、词语和长句的处理等方面对张谷若的译本和孙法理的译本进行比较研究,试论各自的得失,从而帮助读者更好地透过译著领略原作的艺术风格和价值。
Tess of the d＇Urberville,one of Thomas Hardy＇s representative works,has been translated into Chinese for many times owning to its high artistic value.In light of A.F.Tytler＇s three principles on translation,this paper endeavours to study the differences of the two translations by Zhang Guruo and Sun Fali from the aspects of fidelity,translation of scenery description and characters＇ language,the handling of descriptive words and long sentences and so on.It aims to help the readers to appreciate the artistic style and values of the original work through the translation.
