摘要
在《中国之科学与文明》中,李约瑟进行中西科技发展的比较,不过那是一种缺乏实际接触的比较。事实上,明末清初来华耶稣会士传入西学,使得两种文明中的自然知识传统遭遇,其间产生的竞争、冲突与比较,留下许多可进一步探究的议题。文章选择从明末清初近代东西文明的遭遇与冲撞,来分析近20年来台湾的科技史研究所处理的一些新议题。
In the Science and Civilisation in China,Joseph Needham made some comparisons between western science and Chinese science without focusing on the encounter between them.In fact,the transmission of western learning by Jesuits missionaries brought about the encounter of two traditions of natural knowledge,and left lots of topics concerning the conflict,competition and comparison between them.In view of the encounter and mutual impact between modern civilizations of East and West,this paper aims to analyze several topics on history of science and technology in the last 20 years dealt with in Taiwan.
