Amos Oz is the most outstanding and influential Hebrew writer in modern Israel. This paper explores the philosophical reflection in his short story 'Waiting' from the perspective of the Jewish philosopher Martin Buber's Philosophy of Dialogue, and points out that the origin of the miserable relationship between Benny and his wife is their mismeeting due to the absence of dialogue. In order to realize their real 'meeting',Benny must complete the transformation from 'I-It' relationship to 'I-Thou' relationship.Benny's spiritual growth indicates the expectation of Oz to resolve the conflicts between human beings and search for their lost spiritual home.It discloses his profound philosophical contemplation and humanistic concerns permeated in his fiction.
