经过对史料的分析认为,北地郡自秦到西汉一直是边地重镇。西汉末年,北地郡受到羌胡内侵,自此辖地萎缩,郡治内迁。东汉,北地郡复置。其郡治虽沿用旧名,但实际地点却已不在西汉故地,而是随着羌乱多次变动。到东汉永初六年(141年)前,北地郡治已内迁关中。
Beidijun was an important county of frontier from Qin Dynasty to Western Han Dynasty. Beidijun was invaded by Qiang and Hun in the last years of Western Han Dynasty, since then the area under its jurisdiction was decreased, and the county town was migrated. Beidijun was reset in Eastern Han Dynasty. Although the county town used the old name of Beidijun, but it was not the actual location of the Western Han Dynasty, and changes several times as the Qiang riot. The county town of Beidijun had been migrated to Guanzhong before 141 A.D.
