摘要
本研究目的在于考察不同材质的动物垫料对动物排泄物的吸收程度,为采用玉米芯垫料取代传统刨花垫料后,在动物管理中设计垫料更换频度提供参考数据。研究选用初始均重分别约500 g(n=72)和200 g(n=24)的2批次SD大鼠及1批均重约35 g(n=24)的BALB/C小鼠,在动物笼具内动物数量及铺垫垫料厚度不同时,通过测定动物笼具内氨浓度值、垫料吸湿性能、垫料和动物皮毛洁净度评分等参数对两种垫料进行评估。结果表明,在使用相同体积(厚度)垫料的情况下,玉米芯垫料可以获得比柳木刨花垫料更好的吸水和氨吸附能力,从而可以减少垫料更换频率。
Objective To develop a scientific bedding-changing procedure to replace the wood shavings with corn cob. Methods Two groups of SD rats (weight about 500 g, n = 72 and 200 g, n = 24, respectively) and 1 group of BALB/c mice (weight 35 g, n = 24) were used, and ammonia concentration, hygroscopicity of bedding as well as bedding and fur cleanliness under different conditions were evaluated. Results and Conclusion The present study indicates that volumetric absorbencies of corn cob con ammonia is better than that of wood shavings, and the cages bedded with corn cob keep a longer bedding-changing interval.
