摘要
关于高等教育的特有属性问题,不仅是专门从事高等教育研究以及构建高等教育学科的理论前提,也是改革与发展高等教育所必须面对的现实问题。对象事物的特有属性,具有相对性,只有在比较中才能体现出来。高等教育的特有属性,一般也是从其与初等、中等教育的比较中体现出来。这样,育人功能属性和各种社会功能属性,就不能称之为高等教育的特有属性,而是教育的共性;高层次性与专业性,即"高"与"专",才是高等教育的特有属性。对于"高",学界争议不大;对于"专",则存在分歧。但是,无论从史实还是现实看,无论从历史必然性还是现实可能性看,专业性是高等教育最具有重要意义的特有属性。
The unique attribute of higher education is not only theoretical premise in studying higher education and setting up discipline of higher education, but also the actual problem encountered in reform and development of higher education. The unique attribute of higher education, as a relative attribute, is embodied in comparison with primary and middle educa- tion. The unique attribute of higher education is not person training or its social function, which are the commonness, but the higher level and specialty, which are abbreviated "higher" and "specialty". There are no controversies in academic circles for "higher", and there are disputes for "specialty". However, no matter historically or actually, no matter inevitably or probably, the specialty is the most significant unique attribute of higher education.
