局域网接入ATM网是通信界最热门的技术之一.如何既享受ATM高带宽资源,又保留局域网现有的协议层次,从而保护用户投资,是一个很吸引人的技术问题.IP Over ATM(IPOA)、局域网仿真(LAN Emulation)以及Multi-Protocol Over ATM(MPOA)是局域网接入ATM的三种最流行的技术规范.其中,局域网仿真和MPOA适用范围广,可以接入各种网络层协议.文章对局域网仿真和MPOA这两种技术的原理、通信规程进行详细的介绍,并对它们的优缺点进行了分析比较.
It is one of the most popular technologies in the telecommunications field to make LAN having access to ATM. Then how to enjoy the bandwidth of ATM while reserving the existing protocol stack of LAN is an attractive technology, which can protect the customer' s investment. IP Over ATM (IPOA), LAN Emulation (LANE) and Multi-Protocol Over ATM (MPOA) are the three popular technologies. LANE and MPOA have a wide range of application, which are accessible to all kinds of network layer protocols. This paper introduces these two protocols in details, gives their merits and shortcomings, and makes a comparison between them.
