摘要
通过对现有的三类在ATM主干网络环境中局域网互连的技术——局域网仿真、IPOverATM和MPOA进行分析和比较,给出了它们在具体应用上的特点,由此给出第三层交换技术的实现原理.通过对现有产品技术的比较,指出了第三层交换技术的关键.由于路由器在高速网络环境下的瓶颈效应十分明显,因此在ATM网络环境下应尽量避免使用.MPOA将路由功能从传统的路由器中分类出来,独立用硬件进行实现,从而大大减少了由此引起的性能下降.目前,第三层交换技术采用了同样的技术路线,用于提高网络的整体性能.
This paper analyzes advantages and disadvantages in LAN internetworking applications by comparing the three available techniques such as LAN emulation, IP Over ATM and MPOA. The essential technique in lay 3 switching is also discussed by analysis of the current implementations based on this technique. As router is one of the bottlenecks in LAN internetworking, we should avoid using router in ATM backbone environment. By dividing the routing function from router and implementing it with hardware, MPOA provides a better performance in LAN internetworking applications and so does the layer 3 switching technique.
