摘要
典籍英译,无论诗或散文,中国有的译者远远胜过了英美译者。本文对英国格雷厄姆译的李商隐《无题》,威利译的《诗经·关雎》,理雅各和威利译的《论语》,和中国人的译文进行了比较。中国译文不算世界第一,也是世界一流。中国人要克服不如外国人的心理,恢复民族自豪感。
So far as the English translation of Chinese classics is concerned,some senior Chinese translator's version is far better than English or American translator's. In this article the author compares his English version of Chinese classics with the versions by A. C. Graham,Arthur Waley,James Legge,to show the former's superiority over the latter so as to remove the inferiority complex of some Chinese people. In short,China is second to none in translating her classics into English.
