On the basis of the latest domestic and overseas documents concerning the research on small-sized direct-injection high speed diesel engines, the paper analyzes the performance characteristics, present technical situation and development trend of small-sized d/rect-injection high speed diesel engines, and predicts that in a few years to come, direct-injection combustion systems will be more widely applied to the engines of family cars and mini-vans so that direct-injection combustion system diesels will occupy a larger market share than separated chamber combustion system diesels.
