Objective To compare the anesthesia efficacy of 0.75% levobupivacaine and 0.75% bupivacaine in epidural block for an emergency cesarean section. Methods Fifty patients(ASAⅠ - Ⅱ )scheduled for the emergency cesarean section were divided into two groups( n = 25 in each group). Epidural puncture and catheterization were carried out routinely, and 0.75 % levobupivacaine in group L and bupivacaine in group B were used for epidural block. The onset and duration of analgesia, sensory block, degree of motor block and side effects were recorded and compared. Results There was no significant difference in the profiles of sensory block, analgesia and motor block as well as adverse events between two groups( P 〉 0.05 ). Conclusion The 0.75 % levobupivacaine and 0.75% bupivacaine have similar anesthesia efficacy in epidural block for the emergency cesarean section.
