The reaction activity for reforming of CH 4 with CO 2 over supported Ni catalyst was investigated in a fixed bed reactor at 600~900℃. It was found that the initial activity depended essentially on Ni state which was related to its interaction with the support. In preparation process, the conditions, such as calcining temperature and Ni loading, had a great effect on the interaction, and the formation of NiAl 2O 4 spinel decreased the activity at lower reaction temperature but enhanced CO 2 conversion at higher reaction temperature. The heated or calcined support would increase the surface area of the catalyst, but have a little effect on its activity. Under the given conditions, the state and distribution of Ni phase would be related to Ni loading. The interaction between Ni and Al 2O 3 would be dominant for the catalyst with lower Ni loading. So it would lead to a maximum value of activity at lower reaction temperature, and lead to less carbon deposition.
