This paper selects to review the progress in the experimental and theoretical investigations of electronic transport in ballistic regime. The content covers the preparing technique of quantum point contacts (QPC's);the phenomenon and physics of conductance quantization; the applicability of Ohm's law in the network of QPC's;the application of ballistic transport properties; and the quantization of critical current through superconducting quantum point contacts.
