摘要
委婉语是英语中的一个重要的修辞手法。它在语言交流中运用得十分广泛,是交际者在谈论一些令人不快或尴尬的事情时所使用的较为含蓄、礼貌的表达方式。在其被广泛使用的过程中,英语委婉语体现出了与其它修辞手法不同的语言特征。文章从Leech有关语言偏离的理论出发,对其特征之一,即英语委婉语中的语言偏离现象进行简要的分析,目的在于使读者了解两者之间的微妙关系,更好地欣赏和运用委婉语,使交际活动顺利进行。
Abstract ：Euphemism is an important rhetorical device of English. When used in social communication very often and extensively,it takes on some unique linguistic characteristics different from other rhetorical devices. Based on Leech＇ s theory on linguistic deviation, this paper therefore tries to analyze some linguistic deviations in English euphemism in the hope that readers on the one hand can get familiar with the subtle relation between the English euphemism and linguistic deviation,and on the other hand, they can appreciate and apply the English euphemism better and consequently,making their communication smoothly and successfully.
