With rapid devclopment in both computer and computational approaches,the mathematieal modeling has made considerable progress in the past twenty years,They.can be used to simulate 2D or 3D problem with good agreement with real furnace,and this enriches our knowledge on glass fusion processes greatly.The quantitative indexes,melting index and refining index have been proposed by the author with which the conditions of glass melting and refining processes can be evaluated respectively.Thus the approach of quantitative evaluation and analysis on glass fusion and processes has been established by using numerical simulation.The key problems of the simulation on flow and heat transfer of glass melt in tank furnace,and the critical problem critical problem to evaluate the glass fusion quality with the modeling results quantitatively,are introduced in this paper.
