从某种意义上说,这篇短文与其说是对“批评的演化”(以下简称”批评”)的评论,倒不如说是在原文基础上的“借题发挥”。在认同”批评”对文化交流的积极立场和“距离化”视野的同时.本文希望借此重新思考建筑和文化领域中”中西方”类别化区分的问题.即其所带来的对文化和个体差异的简化,以及对认识特定建筑问题的阻碍。
The terms ‘China' and the ‘west' appearing in political-cultural discourses and architectural discussions have been problematic, Since the emergence of modern Chinese architecture that can be traced back to the 1920s, the prevalent pursuit has been in favour of'Chinese characteristic architecture' as opposing to the 'western' architecture. Legitimated by political ideology, the orthodoxy idea of 'Chinese characteristic architecture' has prevented architecture in China from developing its own critical discourse.The consequence of this is a stagnated architectural judgement and practice caught in a direct symbolism between form and content.This has been an obstacle in the development of Chinese architect's own responses and innovative appropriation of imported knowledge beyond simply an invention of new form.
