摘要
美国作家威廉.福克纳的短篇小说《献给艾米丽的玫瑰》从现代工商文明之批判、南方贵族文化及父权之解构、主题之不确定性三方面等后现代视角入手阐释了艾米丽悲剧命运的根源,指出艾米丽一生受到父权、家庭、传统与新兴资本主义工商势力多重压制与迫害,人性严重扭曲,丧失了自我;在充满宽容、理解的民主人道主义社会建立之前,其悲剧命运无可避免。
In A Rose For Emily, William Faulkner holds a critical and query attitude towards modernity and manirests a kind of postmodern spirit, which is reflected in his keen observation of the defects of modernity , his attempt to deconstruct the values of American southern mainstream culture , and his innovation of breaking through the traditional novels＇ closed and unifying meaning and structure. Based on the analyses of above three elements against postmodern backdrop, the paper points out that under the pressure and persecution of patriarchal, traditional and capitalist forces, Emily inevitably lost her identity with twisted mind and abnormal mentality, and couldn＇t avoid her tragic fate before the emergence of a humanistic and democratic society.
