Unit Consumption Analysis(UCA) proposed by prof.Song in 1992 is the outgrowth of the latest.advabces made in Second Law Analysis.To meet the urgent need of enerng/raw material conservation in national economy it is imperative to formulate a technical guide to energy system improvement.Extensuve modifications have been made on basis of the upto-date formulations of exergo-economics to accomodate the engineering applications.This paper studies a 200MW power generating unit and places particular emphasis on making use of exergy to investigate the time and spacial distribution of the'unit consumption acornal' and 'energy saving effect' of the individual system component and the influence of its variation on economy of the global system.
