The discourse power from neo - historicism has been increasingly stressed by translation researchers and has opened a new way for literary translation studies, Translation is not only the transformation between languages, but also the manipulation, subversion and acquisition of powers. Literary partial translation can be interpreted and evaluated through the changing process of discourse power. In partial translation, the repellence and subversion of translator's discourse power enable the translated version to depart from the original text to some degree, but the restraint of discourse power confines the translator's subversion in partial translation to a certain limit. The discourse order of the original text should be somehow preserved, and partial translation does not mean to destroy the rationality of source language.
