The migration of framework Al and surface acidity of HZSM 5 zeolite synthesized by direct method after steaming at different temperatures and washed with 1 mol/L HCl solution were examined by using XRD, 27 Al MASNMR, and IR spectra of pyridine adsorption. It is discovered that with the increase of the steaming temperature, the dealumination degree of HZSM 5 increases. Under the experimental conditions (673 ̄1123 K), the structure of HZSM 5 synthesized by direct method is stable, and its framework Al can not be removed largely. For HZSM 5(38) and HZSM 5(25), only 16% and 40% framework Al can be removed from framework respectively after steaming at 1073 K for 2 h. High vacuum IR spectra of pyridine adsorption reveal that the HZSM 5(38) zeolite after steaming at 1073 K for 2 h and noh framework Al removing contains a large number of L acid centre.
