摘要
从地理信息系统（ＧＩＳ）的发展渊源出发，总结了地理信息系统发展的４个阶段：６０年代起步阶段；７０年代发展阶段；８０年代应用阶段；９０年代成熟阶段．提出了地理信息系统的４个发展趋势：体系结构日臻完善；向多用途综合化方向发展；向智能型辅助决策方向发展；
Geographic Information system (GIS) has been developed in depth since it appeared mere than thirty years ago. With the theory of GIS being perfected, GIS function is getting enhanced, and GIS apphication is becoming extended. GIS technique is recognized and paid close attention by scientists and common people. Based on the analysing the origin of GIS appearence and development, the four stages of GIS development are summerized:Beginning stage(1960s), Development stage(1970s),Application stage(1980s), Maturating stage(1990s). Finally, the authour pointed out that there are four perspectives of GIS development: The theory and techniqne of GIS is becoming more perfectly. The applied GIS is going to be versatile and integrative. The DSS (Decission Support System) with artificiale intelligence will be the main aim of GIS development. The future GIS is getting more utilization and commercialization.
