In some earlier works it was reported that ion-implantation in glass causes effects directly connected to radiation damage,sush as microhardness,mechanical stresses,density,refractive index and optical absorption.Recent papers indicated that the chemical compound or nanocluster formation attribute to the interaction between implanted ions and substrate glass.The radii of nanoclusters or colloidal particles in implanted glass may be controlled by ion fluence.The nanoclusters or colloidal particles induce the formation of light waveguides of glass surface which are of interest in the field of optoelectronics.
