摘要
双语词典关涉两种异域异质的语言与文化，它的编纂与出版总是在客观上对人类各民族和种族间的语言文化交流起到不可替代的作用，尤其是在现代文明的今天。长期以来，我国的双语词典编纂及相应的理论研究主要是内向型的，它从客观上对西方（主要是英语国家）的语言文化传播起到重要的桥梁作用，让中国更多地了解西方的语言及文化。然而，语言与文化的交流应该是双向的，在全球性“汉语热”的时代背案之下，我国的双语词典学界应该及时关注汉语语言及文化传播的问题，为汉语走向世界做出我们应有的贡献。本文对外向型汉英词典编纂过程中的文化传播及其原则进行了初步探讨，旨在强调外向型汉英词典编纂对汉语走向世界可能产生的积极影响，希望得到学界同行们的重视。
As a matter of fact, bilingual dictionaries, in which two heterogeneous languages and their cultures survive, play a unique part in promoting interlingual and intercultural communication, and in which case, the compilation and publishing of bilingual dictionaries in modern times means much more. In the history of Chinese bilingual lexicography, bilingual dictionaries meant for Chinese English learners have long been the major or even absolute concern for lexicographers as well as publishers. As a result, western cultures have been greatly introduced into China with the help of language learning. However, cross-cultural communication should always be bidirectional as its connotation tells. This essay is a tentative attempt at exploring the basic principles of introducing Chinese culture in Chinese-English dictionaries for non-native users, in the hope that more and more bilingual lexicographers pay more attention to the possible impact of bilingual dictionaries on introducing Chinese language and its culture in the future since Chinese learning is now globally promoted.
