摘要
本文从语义、语法和语用三个维度对修辞条件句进行了分析,说明这种表达形式在语义上是“反常”的,解读需要运用“反证法”,其语法上的重要特征是同其语义内容相适应的,而这种表达形式的选择可以从有关的语用因素得到解释。通过上述分析,试图揭示语义、语法、语用之间的制约关系:语义是语法的基础,而语法形式的选用主要受语用环境的影响。
This article investigates English rhetorical conditionals from the perspectives of semantics, grammar and pragmatics and argues that English rhetorical conditionals convey abnormality in semantic meaning and need disproof in their interpretation,that, in the grammatical structure, they carl＇y as their ilnportant features the compatibility with the semantic meaning, and that the use of these conditionals are strongly affected by pragmatic factors.The purpose of this analysis is to reveal the constraining relations among semantics,grammar and pragmatics, that is, while semantics is the basis of grammar, the choice of grammatical structures are mainly influenced by pragmatic environment.
