摘要
自从Halliday于1985年第一次提出“语法隐喻”这一概念以来,语言学界发表了大量论文,涉及语法隐喻的性质、类型、功能、体现形式、运作机制及其与意识形态、语言发展、语域和语类的关系。然而,现有的成果对名词化类型和功能的讨论还远远不够,动词化与语法隐喻的关系基本上被忽视。为了对语法隐喻进行更加全面的阐释,本文就以下四个彼此相关的问题展开讨论:1)语法隐喻产生的基本条件;2)名词化的界定与类型;3)动词化的界定与类型;4)名词化隐喻功能与动词化隐喻功能的对比。
Ever since M.A.K. Halliday put forward the concept of grammatical metaphor in 1985, there have been a lot of publications on its nature, classification, functions, realization forms, working mechanisms and its relation to ideology, language development, register and genre. However, the previous discussions on the classification and function of nominalization are far from being exhaustive and the relation between verbalization and grammatical metaphor has been largely ignored. With the purpose of giving a more comprehensive picture of grammatical metaphor, this paper attempts to look at the following interrelated issues: (1) Basic criteria of grammatical metaphor; (2) Definition and classification of nominalization; (3) Definition and classification of verbalization; and (4) Comparison between nominalization and verbalization in terms of their metaphoric functions.
