Ultrafine amorphous Co-B alloy particle catalysts have been prepared by three methods:(a) addition of KBH4 solution to CoCl2 solution, (b) addition of CoCl2, solution to KBH4 solution,and (c) flow ofboth solutions in a Y junction. It is shown that among the above threecatalysts the Co-B(c) catalyst has the highest specific catalytic activityfor CO hydrogenation, because of homogeneous distribution of alloyingcomponents in the amorphous matrix. Besides, amorphous Co-B alloyparticle catalyst exhibits higher catalytic activity and higher C2-C4 selectivities than the corresponding crystallized Co-B alloy catalyst.
