In this paper there is described the findings from the research on the synthesized acenaphthene phenolic resin with the industrial acenaphthene as a starting material, discussing the influences of the reaction time,the ratio of phenol aldehyde and acenaphthene, the concentration of catalyst and other factors on the softening point of resin, the content of free phenol, the jelling time, the value of residual carbon and other target indexes. It is pointed out that acenaphthene phenolic resin can be used as binder for the magnesite — carbon brick to replace the liquid phenolic resin.
