摘要
１９９４年１月１７日美国洛杉机地区的北岭发生６．６级强烈地震，造成生命和财产的巨大的损失。这是２０年来该地区发生的最强烈的一次地震，引起了国际地震学界的普遍关注。本文综述了这次地震的概况，内容包括：震源参数、震灾情况、地震造成的社会和经济影响、救援情况、地震成因和灾害特点以及值得思考的几个问题。
On January 17,1994,a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck Northridge of Los Angeles area,USA, resulting in great losses of life and property. This was the strongest shock in the area in the last twodecades,arousing common concern in the international seismological circles,Some information data aboutthis earthquake are overviewed in this paper,mainly including :focal parameters,earthquake disasters,so-cial and economic effects,disaster relief and assistances,cause of the earthquake and disaster features aswell as several problems which merit consideration.
