摘要
本文探讨了在英语教学中如何应用新格赖斯会话含意理论来提高学生的阅读理解能力。文章简单回顾了语用能力在英语教学中的重要性 ,并举例说明如何运用新格赖斯会话含意理论的主体“列文森三原则”进行含意推导 ,提高学生的阅读理解和文学欣赏能力。文章最后还提出 ,在阅读中 ,尤其是在理解文学作品中并非总是遵循一般的既定推导程序 ,而是要灵活地对“列文森三原则”进行综合运用 ,以此更加深刻领会作者的创作意图。
This paper discusses the application of “Neo-Gricean”Theory to one of the aspects of English teaching:reading comprehension. Examples are cited to illustrate how a teacher employ the three principles put forward by S. Levinson,i.e.,the principles of quantity, information and manner, to develop students' abilities to comprehend English texts and appreciate literary works. It suggests that an integrated rather than a selective use of the three principles should be adopted during the process of reading ,particularly the reading of literary works.
