摘要
多元系统理论是翻译研究学派的一个重要分支,它给翻译研究开辟了一条描述性的、面向译语系统的、功能主义的、系统的、动态的新途径,推动了翻译研究的文化转向,拓宽了翻译研究的领域。然而,该理论也有其不可忽视的盲点。
Polysystem Theory, an important branch in translation studies which approaches translation phenomena in a systemic, dynamic, descriptive, functional, target language-oriented way and contrasts sharply with the traditional translation studies, broadens the horizon of translation studies and speeds up the 'cultural turn' in translation studies. This paper addresses the non-adequacy of this theory in explaining literary translation from the perspectives of the cultural position of a nation and/or of translation literature in a given literary polysystem in relation to the source culture, ideology, translator's poetics and initiative.
