ugeneGarfield是美国著名的文献信息检索专家。他从一个普通用户的观点,提出如何高效率检索 最新信息的问题,并匠心独运地将引文索引与文献评价有机结合,创造了garfield原理,创建了SCI评价体系和美国 科学信息研究所,并担任首任主席。带领他的团队,经过半个世纪拼搏,使SCI在其他文献索引工具中脱颖而出, 被公认为是科学信息交流和信息科学的革命性创造。本文通过简述引文检索与信息科学领域发展史来介绍他充 满传奇色彩的一生。
Eugene Garfield is known as a famous philologist. He deliberated on how to search for literature effectively from a users point and innovated not only Garfields principle but also the citation index in information analysis. He was the founding director of Institute of Science Index (ISI)) and Science Citation Index (SCI). SCI distinguished itself from other literature indexes and was recognized as a basic and fundamental innovation in scientific communication and information science by his hard work persisting for years with his team. We try to capture something of this famous man from the history of literature citation and information science in this article.
