摘要
本文论述了美国外语教师发展的趋势：政策化、标准化、终身化。它们代表了美国外语教学发展的新趋势，《外语教学标准》就是这三种趋势的具体体现。这些趋势不仅将使学生受益，更重要的是教师将拥有更大的发展空间去提高生存的质量，并通过有效的工作进而提高整个民族的生存质量。
This paper discusses three main trends in American FL teacher development: policy-based, standardized and long-life development. They represent the new trends in FLT development in USA. World Languages Other Than English Standards also reveals these three trends, which would not only benefit students, but also provide more dimensions for teachers to improve their living quality. Thus through the efficient teaching work of the teachers, the whole nation's living quality will also be improved.
