The Integration of the Scientific Spirit and the Humanistic Spirit in Higher Education

摘要 科学精神的内涵是求真、创新、怀疑和坚持,人文精神的内涵是求善、以人为本、以人的全面自由发展为目的。面对知识经济、全球化、可持续发展的时代挑战,高等教育自身危机重重,科学精神与人文精神的整合成为高等教育的应然取向。两种精神整合的可能性在于它们有着共同的渊源,科学技术的人文价值是它们的结合点,而实现这一整合的现实途径就是高等教育观念、模式、课程、制度等方面的全面变革。 The connotation of scientific spirit is seeking for truth, innovating, suspecting, and insisting, whereas the connotation of humanistic spirit is seeking for being good and people-oriented, aiming to all-around development of people. In the past, scientific spirit has always been separated from humanistic spirit in higher education. Facing the challenges of Knowledge Economy, Globalization, and the Sustainable Development that our time endows us with, higher education is in strait. The integration of the scientific spirit and the humanistic spirit should become trendy. The possibility of the integration of those two spirits lies in that they have the same origin. This paper points out that the feasible way to integrate the two spirits is to take reform in all the aspects of higher education, including the concepts, the modes, the curriculum, and the systems, ect.
