Specific multifunctional reactive dyes have a favourable effect on the fibrillation behaviour typical of the lyocell fibre, especially during wet processing. A study has shown that this effect can be produced by interfibrillar crosslink-ing of the reactive groups of these dyes with adjacent cellulose chains.
