This art...Mediatic sporting events are increasingly used in the geopolitical arena to gain consensus, at the same time emerging as platforms for the discussion of social issues, such as human rights and sustainability. This article presents an investigation into the role of mediatic sporting events and digital platforms in sparking political debate and social engagement to bring about change, including discussions on global and local interests and the performances of activist fans to promote debate on specific issues. The investigation employs a quantitative methodology. The initial inductive analysis uses a matrix of cultural key-frames of the empowerment and protest that accompany media sporting events, verifying their presence and effectiveness in different communication milieus. An analysis of the representation of protests on social media was performed through content analysis. The results of the investigation show that mediatic sporting events are to be understood as a diverse range of generators of multiple political effects: from the exercise of power to mass mobilization and media criticism.展开更多

Fostering a dynamic sports culture relies heavily on sporting events and community engagement.In the pursuit of a robust sports culture,organizing sports events and encouraging public involvement are of utmost signifi...Fostering a dynamic sports culture relies heavily on sporting events and community engagement.In the pursuit of a robust sports culture,organizing sports events and encouraging public involvement are of utmost significance.A deep comprehension of understanding how sports events shape consumer interest holds both theoretical and practical value.This study focuses on the audience of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics,considering both from online and offine.Through meticulously constructing a comprehensive framework that encompasses spectator experience,demonstration effect,and media influence,and collecting 679 valid surveys nationwide,it adopts the partial least squares method-structural equation model(PLS-SEM)for in-depth analysis.The study finds that the‘traffic'generated by sports events directly influences consumers'purchase intentions in three ways:spectator experience,demonstration effect,and media influence.Among these,the demonstration effect has the most significant impact,and perceived value plays a partial mediating role.Based on the findings,several practical recommendations are proposed to further unlock the cultural and economic value of large-scale sporting events.This study not only provides empirical support for understanding the mechanisms through which mega-events stimulate consumer behavior but also offers strategic insights into enhancing the social influence and commercial value of sports in the digital era.展开更多

Most of the authors deal with effects, impacts or thelegacy of them, concentrating on economic aspects in that field. This study uses a stakeholder approach and tries to examine peculiarlythe whole range of the Olympic Games of Rio 2016 by using a qualitative research method. Stakeholders from Latin America wereasked about their expectations and perceived experiences regarding the first games in South America. Even if from differentperspectives, respondents expected and perceived both positive and negative effects through RIO 2016. Their wishes were related totheir individual development, further development of sports, intercultural exchange, and social learning. A similarly varied picture maybe observed regarding the experiences perceived. In order to determine a comprehensive picture of RIO 2016 and its legacy, it isimportant to do a short-term as well as a long-term investigation.展开更多
Given the rise of artificial intelligence,big data analytics has emerged as an important tool for processing and assimilating the enormous volume of data available on social media.It is of great theoretical and practi...Given the rise of artificial intelligence,big data analytics has emerged as an important tool for processing and assimilating the enormous volume of data available on social media.It is of great theoretical and practical significance to explore the public opinion diffusion process and characteristics,and users’emotions of mega sports events based on big data statistics in the social media environment.This paper takes the Jakarta Asian Games,Russian World Cup and PyeongChang Winter Olympics held in 2018 as cases,uses text mining and social network analysis methods to analyze the dissemination process of social media users’data,presents the semantic words disseminated in sports events through high-frequency word cloud diagrams,and summarizes the general rules of public opinion dissemination.The results show that the more users’participation,the greater diffusion volume,and the diffusion process shows fast increasing,short duration,scattered topics,diversified contents,and strong guidance and weak continuity of attention.The high-frequency words,except for the names of the events,such as“cheer”,“win the game”and“must win”,have obvious concentration of emotional words.展开更多
