Anorectal manometry and neural retrograde tracing were conducted in this animal model to analyze the mechanisms and the effects on recovery of anorectal function. The left L4 ventral root (L4VR) was intradurally micro-anastomosed to the L6 ventral root (L6VR) to establish the new regenerated neural pathway. Three months later the spinal cord was completely transected at the T9-10 level. Eight weeks later the model rats were randomly divided into two groups. The rats in the group 1 (n=8) were applied for anorectal manometry, and those in the group 2 (n=4) were used for neural retrograde tracing study with fluorogold (FG) and dextran tetramethylrhodamine (TMR). The results of anorectal manometry showed the new reflex pathway could induce rectum to contract and simultaneously electric activity of external anal sphincter (EAS) to become weak or disappearing (indicating synergetic relaxation of EAS). FG and TMR dual labeled neurons with round and elliptical shape were mainly observed in L4 angulus anterior of model rats. The regenerated neural pathways were effective to improve the rectum external sphincter synergetic status and restore the anorectal function.展开更多

As the most representative peripheral nerve stimulation therapy, it has a complete system of theory and application and is applicable to a large population. This paper expounds the bionic origins of acupuncture and analyzes the physiological mechanism by which acupuncture works. For living creatures, functionally sound viscera and effective endurance of pain are essential for survival. This paper discusses the way in which acupuncture increases the pain threshold of living creatures and the underlying mechanism from the perspective of bionics. Acupuncture can also help to adjust visceral functions and works most effectively in facilitating the process of digestion and restraining visceral pain. This paper makes an in-depth overview of peripheral nerve stimulation therapy represented by acupuncture. We look forward to the revival of acupuncture, a long-standing somato stimulus medicine, in the modern medical systems.展开更多

METHODS The poly (A)+ mRNA translation of IGF Ⅱ and IGF Ⅱ receptor in dysplasia liver cell (DLC n =10), liver cirrhosis (LC n =9) and chronic active hepatitis (CAH n =9) were analyzed with RNA gel electrophoresis, Northern blot and hybridization using human IGF Ⅱ and IGF Ⅱ receptor DNA probes labelled with 32 P through Nick translation and autoradiography. RESULTS The overexpression of IGF Ⅱ in DLC (10/10, 100%) was apparently higher than that in CAH (3/9, 33%) and LC (3/9, 33%), ( P <0 01). The overexpression of IGF Ⅱ receptor in DLC (7/10, 70%) was significantly higher than that in CAH (2/9, 22%) and LC (3/9, 33%), respectively. The data of HBV infection from different chronic liver diseases were analyzed. CONCLUSION The overexpression of IGF Ⅱ and IGF Ⅱ receptor in DLC was related to the preceeding of malignant phenotype of hepatocyte, which provided a diagnostic value for early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Persistent HBV infection is strongly associated with abnormal activation of IGF Ⅱ and IGF Ⅱ receptor, which might indicate a stimulating mechanism of autocrine or paracrine growth involved in live cell carcinogenesis.展开更多
