Lightweight multifunctional metamaterial with low-frequency vibroacoustic reduction and load-bearing performances

Metamaterials can control and manipulate acoustic/elastic waves on a subwavelength scale using cavities or additional components.However,the large cavity and weak stiffness components of traditional metamaterials may cause a conflict between vibroacoustic reduction and load-bearing capacity,and thus limit their application.Here,we propose a lightweight multifunctional metamaterial that can simultaneously achieve low-frequency sound insulation,broadband vibration reduction,and excellent load-bearing performance,named as vibroacoustic isolation and bearing metamaterial(VIBM).The advent of additive manufacturing technology provides a convenient and reliable method for the fabrication of VIBM samples.The results show that the compressive strength of the VIBM is as high as 9.71 MPa,which is nearly 87.81%higher than that of the conventional grid structure(CGS)under the same volume fraction.Moreover,the vibration and sound transmission are significantly reduced over a low and wide frequency range,which agrees well with the experimental data,and the reduction degree is obviously larger than that obtained by the CGS.The design strategy can effectively realize the key components of metamaterials and improve their application scenarios. 展开更多

A new strategy for elastic modulus adjustment is proposed based on the element bearing ratio (EBR),and the elastic modulus reduction method (EMRM) is proposed for limit load evaluation of frame structures. The EBR is defined employing the generalized yield criterion,and the reference EBR is determined by introducing the extrema and the degree of uniformity of EBR in the structure. The elastic modulus in the element with an EBR greater than the reference one is reduced based on the linear elastic finite element analysis and the equilibrium of strain energy. The lower-bound of limit-loads of frame structures are analyzed and the numerical example demonstrates the flexibility,accuracy and effciency of the proposed method. 展开更多

Limit analysis of vertical anti-pulling screw pile group under inclined loading on 3D elastic-plastic finite element strength reduction method 被引量:12

Based on the functional theory, catastrophe theory, simultaneity principle and the idea of strength reduction method (SRM), the bearing capacity functional anti SRM of pile group foundation were established, and the criteria of ultimate load and the concept of safety storage coefficient (Css) were advanced. The inclined ultimate loads by the static loading test, load increment method (LIM) and SRM are compared. Theoretically, the ultimate load of piles does not change with the loading levels when it is calculated by SRM. When the one strength reduction parameter is applied in the calculation boundary, there are calculating errors because the bearing capacity action of soils happened in the finite zone. The inclined 10adings are 108, 132 and 144 kN, and SSC are 1.07, 0.94 and 0.79, respectively, so the calculation values of ultimate loads are about 115.56, 124.08 and 113.76 kN, respectively. The error between calculations and observation values is less than 6%. But .the error between calculations of LIM and observations is 20%. Because of the effect of inclined loading, the push-rotation phenomenon of screw pile group appears. Under this testing, the ultimate bearing capacity of piles is mostly determined by the horizontal ultimate bearing capacity, and the effect of the vertical component of inclined load should also be considered. 展开更多

The current acid deposition critical loads in Guangdong, China were calculated using the PROFILE model with a 3 km × 3 km resolution. Calculations were carded out for critical loads of potential acidity, actual acidity, sulfur and nitrogen, with values in extents of 0-3.5, 0-14.0, 0-26.0 and 0-3.5 kmol/(hrnE.year), respectively. These values were comparable to previously reported results and reflected the influences of vegetation and soil characteristics on the soil acid buffering capacity. Simulations of SO2 emission and sulfur deposition in this study showed that sulfur deposition core areas mirrored SO2 emission centers. The prediction of sulfur deposition after 20% and 40% reduction of SO2 emission suggested that the reduction of area sources contributed greatly to the decrease of sulfur deposition. Thus, abatement of area source emissions could be the primary way to mitigate sulfur deposition in Guangdong to meet both the provincial and national regulations of air pollution control. 展开更多

Static load tests are an important means of supervising and detecting a crane's lift capacity. Due to space restrictions, however, there are difficulties and potential danger when testing large bridge cranes. To solve the loading problems of large-tonnage cranes during testing, an equivalency test is proposed based on the similarity theory and BP neural networks. The maximum stress and displacement of a large bridge crane is tested in small loads, combined with the training neural network of a similar structure crane through stress and displacement data which is collected by a physics simulation progressively loaded to a static load test load within the material scope of work. The maximum stress and displacement of a crane under a static load test load can be predicted through the relationship of stress, displacement, and load. By measuring the stress and displacement of small tonnage weights, the stress and displacement of large loads can be predicted, such as the maximum load capacity, which is 1.25 times the rated capacity. Experimental study shows that the load reduction test method can reflect the lift capacity of large bridge cranes. The load shedding predictive analysis for Sanxia 1200 t bridge crane test data indicates that when the load is 1.25 times the rated lifting capacity, the predicted displacement and actual displacement error is zero. The method solves the problem that lifting capacities are difficult to obtain and testing accidents are easily possible when 1.25 times related weight loads are tested for large tonnage cranes. 展开更多

To reduce the pitch link loads of variable speed rotors, variable tuning frequency fluid- lastic isolators are proposed. This isolator utilizes the variation of centrifugal force due to the change of rotor speed to change the tuning port area ratio, which can change the tuning frequency of the isolator. A rotor model including the model of fluidlastic isolator is coupled with a fuselage model to predict the steady responses of the rotor system in forward flight. The aeroelastic analyses indicate that distinct performance improvement in pitch link load control can be achieved by the utilization of variable frequency isolators compared with the constant tuning frequency isolators. The 4/rev (per revolution) pitch link load is observed to be reduced by 87.6% compared with the increase of 56.3% by the constant frequency isolator, when the rotor speed is reduced by 16.7%. The isolation ability at different rotor speeds in different flight states is investigated. To achieve overall load reduction within the whole range of rotor speed, the strategy of the variation of tuning frequency is adjusted. The results indicate that the 4/rev pitch link load within the whole rotor speed range is decreased. 展开更多

A gain-scheduled feedforward controller, based on pseudo-LIDAR (light detection and ranging) wind speed measurement, is designed to augment the baseline feedback controller for wind turbine's load reduction in above rated operation. The pseudo-LIDAR measurement data are generated from a commercial software- Bladed using a designed sampling strategy. The nonlinear wind turbine model has been simplified and linearised at a set of equilibrium operating points. The feedforward controller is firstly developed based on a linearised model at an above rated wind speed, and then expanded to the full above rated operational envelope by employing gain scheduling strategy. The combined feedforward and baseline feedback control is simulated on a 5MW industrial wind turbine model. Simulation studies demonstrate that the proposed control strategy can improve the rotor and tower load reduction performance for large wind turbines. 展开更多

This paper the chilled water and involves the investigations of ice cold thermal storage technologies along with the associated operating strategies for the air conditioning (AC) systems of the typical office buildings in Saudi Arabia, so as to reduce the electricity energy consumption during the peak load periods. In Saudi Arabia, the extensive use of AC for indoor cooling in offices composes a large proportion of the annual peak electricity demand. The very high temperatures over long summer periods, extending tYom May to October, and the low cost of energy are the key factors in the wide and extensive use of air conditioners in the kingdom. This intense cooling load adds up to the requirement increase in the capacity of power plants, which makes them under utilized during the oil:peak periods. Thermal energy storage techniques are one of the effective demand-side energy management methods. Systems with cold storage shifts all or part of the electricity requirement from peak hours to off-peak hours to reduce demand charges and/or take advantage of off-peak rates. The investigations reveal that the cold thermal energy storage techniques are effective from both technical and economic perspectives in the reduction of energy consumption in the buildings during peak periods. 展开更多

To improve performance of membrane electrode assembly(MEA)at large current density region,efficient mass transfer at the cathode is desired,for which a feasible strategy is to lower catalyst layer thickness by constructing high loading Pt-alloy catalysts on carbon.But the high loading may induce unwanted par-ticle aggregation.In this work,H-PtNi/C with 33%(mass)Pt loading on carbon and monodisperse distri-bution of 3.55 nm PtNi nanoparticles,was prepared by a bimodal-pore route.In electrocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),H-PtNi/C displays an activity inferior to the low Pt loading catalyst L-PtNi/C(13.3%(mass))in the half-cell.While in H_(2)-0_(2) MEA,H-PtNi/C delivers the peak power density of 1.51 W·cm^(-2) and the mass transfer limiting current density of 4.4 A·cm^(-2),being 21%and 16%higher than those of L-PtNi/C(1.25 W·cm^(-2),3.8 A·cm^(-2))respectively,which can be ascribed to enhanced mass trans-fer brought by the thinner catalyst layer in the former.In addition,the same method can be used to pre-pare PtFe alloy catalyst with a high-Pt loading of 36%(mass).This work may lead to a range of catalyst materials for the large current density applications,such as fuel cell vehicles. 展开更多

Electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)provides an attractive approach to carbon capture and utilization for the production high-value-added products.However,CO_(2)RR still suffers from poor selectivity and low current density due to its sluggish kinetics and multitudinous reaction pathways.Single-atom catalysts(SACs)demonstrate outstanding activity,excellent selectivity,and remarkable atom utilization efficiency,which give impetus to the search for electrocatalytic processes aiming at high selectivity.There appears significant activity in the development of efficient SACs for CO_(2)RR,while the density of the atomic sites remains a considerable barrier to be overcome.To construct high-metal-loading SACs,aggregation must be prevented,and thus novel strategies are required.The key to creating high-density atomically dispersed sites is designing enough anchoring sites,normally defects,to stabilize the highly mobile separated metal atoms.In this review,we summarized the advances in developing high-loading SACs through defect engineering,with a focus on the synthesis strategies to achieve high atomic site loading.Finally,the future opportunities and challenges for CO_(2)RR in the area of high-loading single-atom electrocatalysts are also discussed. 展开更多

With the development of renewable energy,electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)has become a potential solution for achieving carbon neutrality.However,until now,due to issues with salt precipitate and regeneration of the electrolyte,this technology faces challenges such as difficulty in maintaining long-term stable operation and excessive costs.The pure water CO_(2)electrolyzers are believed to be the ultimate solution to eliminate the salt depreciation and electrolyte issues.This study develops an in-situ method tailored for CO_(2)reduction in pure water.By employing distribution of relaxation times(DRT)analysis and in-situ electrochemical active surface area(ECSA)measurements,we carried out a comprehensive investigation into the mass transport and electrochemical active surface area of gas diffusion electrodes(GDE)under pure water conditions.The maximum 89%CO selectivity and high selectivity(>80%)in the range of 0-300 mA/cm^(2)were achieved using commercial Ag nanoparticles by rational design of catalyst layer.We found that ionomers influence the CO_(2)electrolyzers performance via affecting local pH,GDE-membrane interface,and CO_(2)transport,while catalyst loading mainly influences the active area and CO_(2)transport.This work provides benchmark and insights for future pure water CO_(2)electrolyzers development. 展开更多

Electrochemical nitrate(NO_(3)^(-))reduction reaction(eNO_(3)RR)to ammonia(NH3)provides a promising route for both water conservation and green ammonia synthesis.Although various catalysts were designed for the eNO_(3)RR and great achievements have been achieved,it is still a challenge to realize selective eNO_(3)RR to NH3at low concentration for the competing hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and poor mass transfer of NO_(3)^(-).Herein,we designed a tandem catalyst of Pd nanoparticle loaded Cu_(2)O hierarchical nanofiber(Pd-Cu_(2)O)to improve eNO_(3)RR performance at low nitrate concentration.The Pd-Cu_(2)O shows a faraday efficiency(FE)of 95.80%and an ammonia selectivity of 97.34%at a comparatively low applied potential of-0.15 V versus RHE with low concentration.Besides,it exhibits excellent nitrate removal effects,the residual concentration of nitrate-N was only 7.22 ppm at-0.15 V.Electrochemical characterizations indicate that the abundant secondary heterojunction structures and the tandem effects of Pd-Cu_(2)O synergistic ally accelerate the transfer and conversion of NO_(3)^(-)and improve the dynamic of eNO_(3)RR at low concentration.Furthermore,the operando electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)and density functional theory(DFT)calculations suggested the tandem effects of Pd-Cu_(2)O improved the adsorption of NO_(3)^(-)and*H and thus promoted the dynamics of eNO_(3)RR at low concentration.The findings highlight the tandem effects of Pd-Cu_(2)O and provide an effective strategy for designing electrocatalysts that can be applied to low concentration and low applied potential conditions. 展开更多

On the basis, a general high speed hard machining strategy, which aimed at eliminating excessive engagement situation during high-speed machining (HSM) hard machining, was proposed. Load Static Models for Conservation Voltage Reduction in the Presence of Harmonics

The Conservation Voltage Reduction (CVR) is a technique that aims to achieve the decrease of power consumption as a result of voltage reduction. The customer is supplied with the lowest possible voltage level compatible with the stipulated level by the regulatory agency. International Standards ANSI C84.1-2006 and IEEE std 1250-1995 specify the range of supply voltage to electronics equipment from 0.9 to 1.05 pu of nominal voltage. To analyse the CVR effect in distribution systems with different load characteristics (residential, commercial, industrial or a combination of these), mathematical load models are used. Typically, these equipment/load models are used to analyse load aggregation without any consideration of its nonlinearity characteristics. Aiming to analyse the nonlinear characteristics and its consequences, this paper presents a discussion of the neglected variables as well as the results of a set of measurements of nonlinear loads. Different mathematical models are applied to obtain them for each load. Using these models the load aggregation is evaluated. It is presented that although the models show adequate results for individual loads, the same does not occur for aggregated models if the harmonic contribution is not considered. Consequently, to apply the load model in CVR it is necessary to consider the harmonics presence and the model has to be done using only the fundamental frequency data. The discussion about the causes is done and the models are compared with the measurements. 展开更多

Model Order Reduction of Complex Airframes Using Component Mode Synthesis for Dynamic Aeroelasticity Load Analysis

Airframe structural optimization at different design stages results in new mass and stiffness distributions which modify the critical design loads envelop. Determination of aircraft critical loads is an extensive analysis procedure which involves simulating the aircraft at thousands of load cases as defmed in the certification requirements. It is computationally prohibitive to use a GFEM (Global Finite Element Model) for the load analysis, hence reduced order structural models are required which closely represent the dynamic characteristics of the GFEM. This paper presents the implementation of CMS (Component Mode Synthesis) method for the generation of high fidelity ROM (Reduced Order Model) of complex airframes. Here, sub-structuring technique is used to divide the complex higher order airframe dynamical system into a set of subsystems. Each subsystem is reduced to fewer degrees of freedom using matrix projection onto a carefully chosen reduced order basis subspace. The reduced structural matrices are assembled for all the subsystems through interface coupling and the dynamic response of the total system is solved. The CMS method is employed to develop the ROM of a Bombardier Aerospace business jet which is coupled with aerodynamic model for dynamic aeroelasticity loads analysis under gust turbulence. Another set of dynamic aeroelastic loads is also generated employing a stick model of same aircraft. Stick model is the reduced order modelling methodology commonly used in the aerospace industry based on stiffness generation by unitary loading application. The extracted aeroelastic loads from both models are compared against those generated employing the GFEM. Critical loads modal participation factors and modal characteristics of the different ROMs are investigated and compared against those of the GFEM. Results obtained show that the ROM generated using Craig Bampton CMS reduction process has a superior dynamic characteristics compared to the stick model. 展开更多

Objective This study was conducted to optimize the operational parameters of anaerobic-anoxic-oxic (A^2/O) processes to reduce the toxicity of municipal wastewater and evaluate its ability to reduce toxicity. Methods A luminescent bacterium toxicity bioassay was employed to assess the toxicity of influent and effluent of each reactor in the A2/O system. Results The optimum operational parameters for toxicity reduction were as follows: anaerobic hydraulic retention time (HRT) = 2.8 h, anoxic HRT = 2.8 h, aerobic HRT = 6.9 h, sludge retention time (SRT) = 15 days and internal recycle ratio (IRR) = 100%. An important toxicity reduction (%) was observed in the optimized A2/O process, even when the toluene concentration of the influent was 120.7 mg·L^-1. Conclusions The toxicity of municipal wastewater was reduced significantly during the A^2/O process. A^2/O process can be used for toxicity reduction of municipal wastewater under toxic-shock loading. 展开更多

Single-atom Pt catalysts are designed to promote efficient atom utilization,whereas effective decrease of Pt loading and improvement of photocatalytic activity in monoatomic Pt-deposited systems is still ongoing.Atomically dispersed metal species in crystalline carbon nitride are still challenging owing to their high crystallization and structural stability.In this study,we developed a novel single-atomic Pt-Cu catalyst for reducing noble metal loading by combining Pt with earth-abundant Cu atoms and enhancing photocatalytic CO_(2)reduction.N-vacancy-rich crystalline carbon nitride was used as a fine-tuning ligand for isolated Pt-Cu atom dispersion based on its accessible functional N vacancies as the seeded centers.The synthesized dimetal Pt-Cu atoms on crystalline carbon nitride(Pt Cu-cr CN)exhibited high selectivity and activity for CO_(2)conversion without the addition of any cocatalyst or sacrificial agent.In particular,we demonstrated that the diatomic Pt-Cu exhibited high mass activity with only 0.32 wt% Pt loading and showed excellent photocatalytic selectivity toward CH_(4)generation.The mechanism of CO_(2)photoreduction for Pt Cu-cr CN was proposed based on the observations and analysis of aberration-corrected high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy images,in situ irradiated X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy.The findings of this work provide insights for abrogating specific bifunctional atomic metal sites in noble metal-based photocatalysts by reducing noble metal loading and maximizing their effective mass activity. 展开更多
