Assessing impact of oil spills in fairways in Chinese Bohai Sea with the impact matrix method

The density of traffic in Bohai Sea of China is growing,so the evaluation of the impact of potential oil spills becomes necessary.However,the impact of potential oil spills at a large temporal-spatial scale has seldom been studied.In this paper,the effects of potential oil spills in seven main fairways in Chinese Bohai Sea and the risks of five environmental sensitive areas(ESAs)being polluted are studied.A three-dimensional hydrodynamic model,coupled with Lagrangian particle tracking model,was constructed to simulate the transportation of oil spills.Hypothetical oil particles with an idealized,passive tracer were released along fairways and their transportation over20-day and180-day periods were simulated,respectively.An environmental impact matrix was built to reveal the relationship between oil spills in fairways and the pollution of ESAs.Results showed that in short term,Z4and Z5had high risk of being polluted by oil spills.Oil particles released along Fairways1,2and7had strong pollution effects.In long term,Z1,Z3,Z4and Z5had medium risk of being polluted.Oil particles released along Fairway3had strong pollution effects.This study might provide useful data to support marine environment protection. 展开更多

This study employed the Rapid Impact Assessment Matrix (RIAM) to prioritize the water resources management problems in the North Central Nigeria. This was done through the assessment of the status of water resources management in the region, evaluation of existing policy and strategy of water management, identification of the management problems and the prioritization with RIAM. The stakeholders identified water resources management problems, ranked them in other of severity in different categories and also evaluated them using the RIAM techniques in the administered questionnaire. Eleven problems were analyzed based on the physical/chemical, biological/ecological, social/cultural and economic/operational factors using several impact indicators. Scores were assigned, the RIAM models applied and the averages taken to arrive at the final assessment scores. The two major water resources management problems identified are: 1) inadequate funds for further agricultural, hydroelectric, navigation and industrial development;2) poor data collection and banking. These problems were prioritized by RIAM in order of severity for urgent intervention. The RIAM technique has made a key contribution to the prioritization of water resources management by providing insights into urgent problems according to stakeholders and thus guides the policy maker in appropriate decision making. 展开更多

When the impact energy exceeds the threshold value, damage is generated in composites. Electrical resistance of impacted composites is changed owing to the contact of each carbon fiber unit in composites, which cause a change of the series-parallel in conductors. In the calculations of the level energy, (1sZ2sZ2p6)3sZ3p63d10, 3s23p63d94/, 3s23p53d104/, and 3s3p63d104/(l = 0, 1,2,3) configurations are included and 107 fine-structure levels are generated. In the calculations of the collision strengths, only the first 59 levels are included. Com- parisons are made with the distorted wave (DW) results of Zeng et al. for both collision strengths and effective collision strengths. For the collision strengths, the two sets of calculations are in excellent agreement for most of the transitions. However, because of the inclusion of the resonances, our effective collision strengths are generally several times larger than those of Zeng et al.. The accuracy of our calculations is assessed. 展开更多

The compression intensity of impacted composites requires more than 60% of its original intensity. The influence of impact on compressive intensity and electrical resistance of carbon fabric/epoxy-matrix composites was studied in this paper. The experimental results shows that impact can cause damage in composites, degenerate compressive intensity, and increase resistance. The electrical resistance change rate was used as an evaluation indicator of impact damage tolerance of composites. Impact damage, which results from the applying process of composites, can be identified in time by electrical resistance measurement. So, the safety performance of composites can also be improved. 展开更多

Results showed that under the effect of pulse-impact: 1) the interface state between reinforcement particle (SiC, Al2O3) and matrix was prominently;2) the initial pernicious contact-state of reinforcement particles was changed from reinforcement (SiC, Al2O3)/reinforcement (SiC, Al2O3) to reinforcement (SiC, Al2O3)/matrix/ reinforcement (SiC, Al2O3);3) the density of dislocation in the matrix neighboring to and away from the interface in the matrix was higher than its parent composite;and 4) the intensively mutual entwisting of dislocation was occurred. Studies illustrated that: 1) deformation was mainly occurred in the matrix grain;and 2) under the effect of pulse-impact, the matrices around reinforcement (SiC, Al2O3) particles engendered intensive aberration offered a high density nucleus area for matrix crystal, which was in favor of forming nano-grains and improved the properties of the successfully welded composite joints. 展开更多

复杂高耸钢结构可以划分为分层的子结构,通过分层处安装传感器达到监测对应子结构层损伤的目的。为了解决复杂高耸钢结构的损伤检测问题,提出了基于向量误差修正模型影响信息转换指标的损伤检测方法。首先,描述了向量误差修正模型的基... 复杂高耸钢结构可以划分为分层的子结构,通过分层处安装传感器达到监测对应子结构层损伤的目的。为了解决复杂高耸钢结构的损伤检测问题,提出了基于向量误差修正模型影响信息转换指标的损伤检测方法。首先,描述了向量误差修正模型的基本理论,给出了模型定阶、协整检验和参数估计的基本方法;然后,进行了向量误差修正模型损伤特征参数分析,通过解析影响矩阵提取了损伤特征影响向量,利用结构未损伤基准状态和损伤状态下的损伤特征影响参数和统计参数构造了影响信息距离,并将测点的自由度信息转换为层间刚度信息构造了影响信息转换指标,在此基础上建立了包含数据采集、向量误差修正模型建模、损伤特征影响向量提取及影响信息转换指标识别的高耸钢结构损伤检测方法和识别流程;最后,进行了3层经典框架和高耸转播塔模型的损伤检测试验研究,通过激振装置在结构上施加非平稳时域荷载获取时程响应数据,利用结构损伤前后的响应数据进行了结构的损伤检测。结果表明:传统的倒谱距离检测指标对于简单框架结构具有一定的检测效果,但对复杂高耸钢结构的损伤检测效果欠佳,而所建议的向量误差修正模型影响信息转换指标具有更好的检测效果,可以更为有效地检测出高耸钢结构的损伤位置。 展开更多

冲击韧性是指材料在受冲击载荷作用下,断裂前吸收塑性变形功的能力,揭示了材料的脆断倾向,冲击吸收能量数值越高,材料发生脆性断裂的可能性越小。球墨铸铁在低温环境下受冲击载荷时易发生脆断,为提升球墨铸铁使用范围,低温-50℃下具有... 冲击韧性是指材料在受冲击载荷作用下,断裂前吸收塑性变形功的能力,揭示了材料的脆断倾向,冲击吸收能量数值越高,材料发生脆性断裂的可能性越小。球墨铸铁在低温环境下受冲击载荷时易发生脆断,为提升球墨铸铁使用范围,低温-50℃下具有良好冲击韧性的球墨铸铁的研究很有必要性。本研究在不加入其他合金元素的前提下,通过优化铸铁的化学成分,再对铸件进行退火处理,获得近100%铁素体基体组织,该铸铁抗拉强度≥380 MPa,屈服强度≥230 MPa,满足了国标QT400-18L和欧标EN-GJS-400-18LT铸铁的力学性能要求;同时满足-50℃低温冲击吸收能量平均值≥12 J,且单个值≥9 J,其综合力学性能达到了预期目标。 展开更多

Designers of infrastructure are aware that the government, owners and users become more and more concerned about negative environmental impacts of tunnels, so environmental assessment of tunnels are becoming an issue in the process of tunnel design. In this study, to assess tunnels in construction and operation phases, the matrix method, through which the “Impacting Factors” and “Environmental Components” are determined, is also outlined. The affected environment was divided into thirteen components, such as Ecology, Surface water, Air quality, etc. In this paper, matrix method was applied to evaluate the impact of tunneling in three typical tunnels and compare them with standard diagrams of Environmental Components that were derived and introduced. These tunnels were: Urban Utility tunnel in Tehran, Eurasia tunnel in Istanbul and Tsuen Wan drainage tunnel in Hong Kong. Based on the acquired results, the present paper finally concluded that among three cases, Tsuen Wan drainage tunnel affects the environment in construction phase more than others, while Eurasia tunnel effects on air quality are more significant in operation phase. 展开更多

Vietnam is a coastal country projected to be heavily affected by climate change.Binh Thuan Province is part of the driest region of Vietnam and is prone to desertification.An expert panel participated in developing a Leopold matrix which allowed for identification of desertification impact factors on the province's socioeconomic activities and assessment of the strength of cause-effect relationships in terms of magnitude and importance.Land use planning,surface water,and the length of the dry season are considered the most important causes,with the overall highest scores for both magnitude and importance in the cause-effect relationship.The largest effects of the different factors are perceived on water supply for agriculture and household use.Water availability and land use planning are important remedial action domains,while drought and land cover require monitoring to assess impacts.The indicators of cause and effect can be used in a longer-term general monitoring and assessment framework to combat desertification in the area. 展开更多

Wind energy is one of the most basic forms of renewable energy,which shows an increasing rate of development worldwide and also at the European level.However,this rapid deployment of wind farms makes the need for an impact assessment of this type of projects on the natural and man-made environment imperative.The present paper aims to identify and assess the environmental impacts of wind farm projects in the Region of Central Greece.A modified Rapid Impact Assessment Matrix(RIAM)method is used for this purpose.The methodology includes the identification of the existing onshore wind farm projects in the study area,the appropriate modifications of the RIAM method to respond to the characteristics of the projects and the study area,the qualitative assessment of their potential impacts during construction and operational phases and the computation of the Environmental Performance Grade(EPG)of projects based on the pro-posed modified RIAM method.The results reveal that although there are some slight negative impacts on the natural environment of the study area,the examined wind farms contribute positively both to the atmosphere and to the socio-economic environment of the study.This study extends the potential for using RIAM as a tool in environmental impact assessment studies of renewable energy projects. 展开更多

The Power-weakness Ratios (PWR) as a Journal Indicator: Testing the "Tournaments" Metaphor in Citation Impact Studies

We show how such a newly proposed ... Purpose: Ramanujacharyulu developed the Power-weakness Ratio (PWR) for scoring tournaments. The PWR algorithm has been advocated (and used) for measuring the impact of journals. We show how such a newly proposed indicator can empirically be tested. Design/methodology/approach: PWR values can be found by recursively multiplying the citation matrix by itself until convergence is reached in both the cited and citing dimensions; the quotient of these two values is defined as PWR. We study the effectiveness of PWR using journal ecosystems drawn from the Library and Information Science (LIS) set of the Web of Science (83 journals) as an example. Pajek is used to compute PWRs for the full set, and Excel for the computation in the case of the two smaller sub-graphs: (1) JASIST+ the seven journals that cite JASISTmore than 100 times in 2012; and (2) MIS Quart+ the nine journals citing this journal to the same extent. Findings: A test using the set of 83 journals converged, but did not provide interpretable results. Further decomposition of this set into homogeneous sub-graphs shows that--like most other journal indicators--PWR can perhaps be used within homogeneous sets, but not across citation communities. We conclude that PWR does not work as a journal impact indicator; journal impact, for example, is not a tournament. Research limitations: Journals that are not represented on the "citing" dimension of the matrix--for example, because they no longer appear, but are still registered as "cited" (e.g. ARIST)-distort the PWR ranking because of zeros or very low values in the denominator. Practical implications: The association of"cited" with "power" and "citing" with "weakness" can be considered as a metaphor. In our opinion, referencing is an actor category and can bestudied in terms of behavior, whereas "citedness" is a property of a document with an expected dynamics very different from that of"citing." From this perspective, the PWR model is not valid as a journal indicator. Originality/value: Arguments for using PWR are: (1) its symmetrical handling of the rows and columns in the asymmetrical citation matrix, (2) its recursive algorithm, and (3) its mathematical elegance. In this study, PWR is discussed and critically assessed. 展开更多

This work presents the delamination resistance of woven glass fibre reinforced polymers (GFRP) and its influence on GFRP’s resistance to point impact. Two different types of laminates were fabricated by hand lay-up technique;(i) woven glass fibre epoxy matrix laminates and (ii) woven glass fibre epoxy matrix laminates with 3% graphite particulate fillers. End Notch Flexure (ENF) test was adopted for the measurement of delamination resistance. The two GFRPs laminates show similar mode II delamination resistance. At impact velocities between 2.215 and 4.429 m/sec, the GFRP developed a smaller damage size than the graphite-based GFRP laminates, indicating higher impact toughness. Difference of the impact resistance between the two GFRPs is mainly on the impact damage size developed. The total energy absorbed during the impact remains the same, which is independent of mode II delamination resistance of the GFRP. The history of relevant dynamic and energetic quantities, both to synthesize the dependency of the energy parameters and force threshold values on the impact velocity are discussed. 展开更多

Effect of Si content on impact-abrasive wear resistance of Al2O3p/steel composites prepared by squeeze casting

The 40Cr steel matrix composites were reinforced with Al203 particulates (Al2O3p) through Si adding to improve the impact-abrasive wear resistance, in which Si powder ranging up to 25% of the AlzO3p weight was added into the Al2O3p preforms; then, the composites were fabricated by squeeze casting. For all composites, alumina particles are evenly distributed, and Si powder is dissolved in the matrix. Without Si powder addition, the 40Cr steel matrix contains only pearlite; however, ferrite appears and increases with Si powder addition. In the impact-abrasive wear tests, the impact frequency is 80 min^-1 and the impacting energy is 2 J. With increasing Si powder, the wear of the composites first decreases obviously, reaches the minimum at 10% and then increases. The effect of Si addition on the wear resistance can be attributed to two reasons: one is increasing the hardness of the matrix, and the other is improving the interfacial bonding between Al2O3p and steel. The wear mechanism of the composites is abrasive wear when the Si powder is 〈 10 wt%. Otherwise, it is a mixed mode of abrasive and delamination wear. 展开更多

Aimed at the guidance requirements of some missiles which attack targets with terminal impact angle at the terminal point,a new integrated guidance and control design scheme based on variable structure control approach for missile with terminal impact angle constraint is proposed.First,a mathematical model of an integrated guidance and control model in pitch plane is established,and then nonlinear transformation is employed to transform the mathematical model into a standard form suitable for sliding mode control method design.A sufficient condition for the existence of linear sliding surface is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs),based on which the corresponding reaching motion controller is also developed.To verify the effectiveness of the proposed integrated design scheme,the numerical simulation of missile is made.The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed guidance and control law can guide missile to hit the target with desired impact angle and desired flight attitude angle simultaneously. 展开更多

Employing both the Dirac R-matrix and the relativistic distorted wave with independent process and isolated reso- nance approaches, we report resonance enhanced electron impact excitation data (specifically, effective collision strengths) among the lowest 41 levels from the n = 3 configurations of Cu XV. The results show that the latter approach can obtain resonance contributions reasonably well for most excitations of Cu XV, though a comparison between the two approaches shows that the close-coupling effects are truly significant for rather weak excitations, especially for two-electron excitations from the 3s3p4 to 3s23p23d configuration. Resonance contributions are significant (more than two orders of magnitude) for many excitations and dramatically influence the line intensity ratios associated with density diagnostics. 展开更多

在自然灾害频发的背景下,识别并分析影响应急物流能力的关键因素,探讨这些因素之间的相互关系、层级结构和作用机制,可以有针对性地提高自然灾害应急物流能力。采用文献研究法和spyder软件进行数据分析,获取自然灾害应急物流能力的初始... 在自然灾害频发的背景下,识别并分析影响应急物流能力的关键因素,探讨这些因素之间的相互关系、层级结构和作用机制,可以有针对性地提高自然灾害应急物流能力。采用文献研究法和spyder软件进行数据分析,获取自然灾害应急物流能力的初始影响因素,筛选出17个主要影响因素,进而确定发展环境、救援效率和管理能力3个维度。通过决策实验室-对抗解释结构模型-交叉影响矩阵相乘法(decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory-adversarial interpretive structure modeling method-cross-impact matrix multiplication applied to classification,DEMATEL-AISM-MICMAC),明确这些因素之间的复杂关系,揭示它们在应急物流能力提升中的作用和层级结构。DEMATEL分析表明,应急响应时间、物流网络优化、多方式联合运输以及统筹与指挥能力等4个因素的中心度、原因度最高,处于核心地位;AISM分析表明,应急物资供给、物资配送速度和救援队伍到达时间属于根源层因素,具有根本性作用;MICMAC分析表明,政策保障、物流网络优化、信息反馈速度、多方式联合运输、统筹和指挥能力和应急处置能力是具有高驱动力、低依赖度的独立因素,对其他因素有较大影响,是需要重点关注的因素。研究结果有助于在自然灾害发生时,实现更快速、更有效的物资调配和救援行动。 展开更多

随着工业化进程的不断发展,人类社会对矿产原材料的开采不断加深,许多资源面临供应危机。为了更好地计算该矿产的关键性,同时满足低碳的需求,众多研究团队的原材料关键性研究方法相继出现。本研究详细论述了美国、欧盟、中国的4种典型... 随着工业化进程的不断发展,人类社会对矿产原材料的开采不断加深,许多资源面临供应危机。为了更好地计算该矿产的关键性,同时满足低碳的需求,众多研究团队的原材料关键性研究方法相继出现。本研究详细论述了美国、欧盟、中国的4种典型原材料关键性评价方法,及另外8种有重要研究价值的方法,针对73种关键性原材料深入分析各方法的优缺点及适用范围。通过对评价方法的评价框架进行梳理、对评价结果进行归纳、对评价的展现形式进行对比、对方法的具体应用进行总结,结果表明,大部分关键性评价都包含供应风险、供应限制的脆弱性以及环境影响三大指标,展现方法大致分为加权求和法和矩阵分析法。分析得出现阶段各评价方法存在评价对象局限、指标不全、准确性不高的问题。在此基础上,对原材料关键性的研究现状进行了讨论,确定了锂、钴等28种公认的关键原材料。最后,提出原材料关键性评价的未来发展需要具备四个基本性质,即全面性、可自定义性、可预见性和准确性,以促进关键性评价在工业生产过程中的普及,为推进工业绿色低碳化提供理论和数据支持。 展开更多

基于两步法的海洋观测浮标撞击载荷识别方法

[目的]有效监测并识别大型海洋观测浮标在海上所受撞击载荷的位置和大小,对优化浮标结构设计及评估浮标观测数据质量具有重要意义。为了提升撞击载荷的识别精度,[方法]提出一种基于改进影响系数的撞击载荷两步识别方法,该方法通过解耦位置识别与载荷值计算过程,将传统影响系数矩阵拆分为位置识别矩阵和载荷识别矩阵,由此提升了载荷识别精度。通过某大型海洋观测浮标数值模型,验证所提两步法在不同碰撞载荷作用下的识别性能。[结果]结果表明,两步法受载荷作用位置影响较小,在低噪声单载荷工况下表现出较好的识别效果,且随着噪声水平的提高展现出良好的抗噪能力。[结论]对于一定数量内的撞击载荷,两步法相较于常规方法表现出更稳定、更精确的识别效果,可应用于浮标结构健康监测中。 展开更多
