The results show that the strength of weld bonding plane is higher than that of the pipe and socket materials at room temperature. In order to get the shear strength of electrofusion welded joint, the effective bond lengths were reduced by cutting artificial groove through the socket. The effective bonding length of welded joint to get the shear strength is decreased with decreasing testing temperature. The shear strength and the sensibility to sharp notch of HDPE material increased with decreasing temperature.展开更多

The tests indicate that specimens appear ductile fracture at the steel plate during the tension tests after cooling down. The maximum temperatures undergone and the cooling pattern are major factors influencing tensile strength of butt welded joint post high temperatures. The tensile strength mostly reduces by 8% within 900℃. Based on the experimental results, the paper proposes the calculation formulas of tensile strength of butt welded joint post high temperatures. The conclusions of the paper supply references for evaluation damage and reinforcement of steel structure post fire.展开更多

Both the base material and the weld joint proved excellent strength and toughness by vibratory electrogas arc (VEGA) welding under 90 to 100 kJ/cm heatinput. The heat-affected zone (HAZ) was comprised of fine-grain zone (FGZ) and coarse-grain zone (CGZ), which characterizes fine granular structure and lathing-bainite substructure, It has found that large quantity of dispersed TiN and M23E6 precipitates restrain structure growing in HAZ and strengthen the weldment together with dislocations in the welded joint.展开更多

An intermetallic compound layer composed of Fe2Al5 and FeAl3 was formed at the steel/ aluminum interface in the welded joint. The thickness of the intermetallic compound layer increased with increasing welding current and welding time, and the maximum thickness being 7. 0 μm was obtained at 25 kA and 300 ms. The weld nugget diameter and tensile shear load of the welded joint had increased tendencies first with increasing welding current ( 18 -22 kA) and welding time ( 50 - 300 ms), then changed little with further increasing welding current ( 22 - 25 kA) and welding time (300 -400 ms). The maximum tensile shear load reached 5.4 kN at 22 kA and 300 ms. The welded joint fractured through brittle intermetallic compound layer and aluminum alloy nugget.展开更多

As a special case, a scheme of joint remote preparation of a single-qutrit equatorial state is presented in detail. The scheme is also generalized to the multi-party high-dimensional case. It shows that, only if when all the senders collaborate with each other, the receiver can reconstruct the original state with a certain probability.展开更多

The effects of the axial load ratio and volumetric stirrup ratio were studied on the characteristics of the frame joint performance including crack pattern, failure mode, ductility, energy dissipation capacity, strength degradation and rigidity degradation. It was found that all joint specimens behaved in a ductile manner with flexural-shear failure in the joint core region while plastic hinges appeared at the beam ends. The ductility and energy absorption capacity of joints increased as the axial load ratio decreased and the volumetric stirIup ratio increased. The displacement ductility coefficient and equivalent damping coefficient of the joints fell between the corresponding coefficients of the steel reinforced concrete (SRC) frame joint and RC frame joint. The axial load ratio and volumetric stirrup ratio have less influence on the strength degradation and more influence on the stiffness degradation. The stiffness of the joint degrades more significantly for a low volumetric stirrup ratio and high axial load ratio. The characteristics obtained from the SRUHSC composite frame joint specimens with better seismic performance may be a useful reference in future engineering applications.展开更多

The results show that the fatigue strength of welded joints is dropped by an average of 60% comparing to the base metal and the fatigue failure still occurred beyond 10~7 cycles. The fatigue fracture of welded joints in the low cycle regime generally occurred at the solder while at the heat-affected zone(HAZ) in the very high cycle regime. The fatigue fracture surface was analyzed with scanning electron microscopy(SEM),showing welding defects such as pore,micro-crack and inclusion were the main factors on decreasing the fatigue properties of welded joints. The effect of welding defects on the fatigue behaviors of welded joints was discussed in terms of experimental results and finite element simulations.展开更多

Hence the shrinkage stress arises and the jointing strength is reduced during the brazing of high-voltage vacuum interrupters (HVVIs). The solder bound contour was gained by solved energy bound equation. The finite element model of weld beads was established with Surface Evolver software. Then the stress in two different cooling techniques ( natural cooling and force cooling) was calculated with ANSYS. Comparing the stress, a better cooling technique was selected for HVVIs. Its cooling time is shortened by 3 hours while the jointing stress doesn' t increase and the tensile strength of ceramic to metal seal is not decreased. The stress-rupture tests have validated the calculated results. More important, a method is found, by which the brazing technique could be improved in advance instead of blind experiments.展开更多
