The designed parameters of the PF grid power supply system have been verified to meet the requirements of the heating field (HF) and the vertical field (VF). In the meantime, in order to reduce the disturbance to the local power grid, the device of reactive power and harmonic current compensation has been added. Experimental results have confirmed the feasibility of the PF grid power supply system. Compared with the ac flywheel generator, the PF grid power supply system has the advantages of lower noise, precise control, convenient maintenance, simple operation and cost savings.展开更多

In the model, fine self-adaptive grids are employed to adapt to the complicated coastal shape. The hydrodynamic equations satisfied by two contravariant components of velocity vector and surface elevation in non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinates are used. In each momentum equation the coefficients before the two partial derivatives of surface elevation with respect to variables of alternative direction coordinates have different orders of magnitude, i. e., the derivative with the larger coefficient may play a more important role than that with the smaller one. With this advantage, the ADI scheme can be easily employed. The hydrodynamic factors include tidal current, river runoff and wind-induced current. In terms of tidal current, seven main constituents in the area are considered in the open boundaries. The verifications of surface elevation process and current velocity process in the spring tide and in the neap tide show that the model can preferably reflect current fields in the area. Through the simulation of Lagrangian residual current fields in summer and in winter, the paths of the exchange of water and sediment between the Yangtze Estuary and the Hangzhou Bay are elementarily discussed.展开更多

In this article this problem is mathematically formulated as an optimization problem. For this purpose the underlying search space and the objective function are defined precisely. In particular, data structures of search and offering profiles are proposed, as well as a function measuring the matching of the attributes of a search profile with the corresponding attributes of an offering profile. This objective function, given in Equation (29), is composed of the partial matching degrees for numerical attributes, discrete non-numerical attributes, and fields of interests, respectively. For the matching degree of numerical profile attributes a fuzzy value approach is presented, see Equation (22), whereas for the matching degree of fields of interest a new measure function is introduced in Equation (26). The resulting algorithm is illustrated by a concrete example. It not only is applicable to electronic social networks but also could be adapted for resource discovery in grid computation or in matchmaking energy demand and supply in electrical power systems and smart grids, especially to efficiently integrate renewable energy resources.展开更多

Higher accuracy and lower computation cost were achieved with this scheme for modeling such an asymmetric wave field generated by a high frequency source near or on the borehole wall. We also modeled the cases with and without considering the effects of the tool body. The simulation results demonstrated that the logging tool body would attenuate the direct waves but have only little influence on the interface waves in such a borehole condition. The effects of the tool body on the wave field were significant only when the contrast of the elastic properties between tool body and borehole fluid was large.展开更多

The observed signals originate in the electric power grid, shown clearly by the fact that they are sum and difference heterodyne products with the power grid’s higher harmonics of 60 Hz, typically the 36th and 37th, because the seismometer’s chosen frequency modulation (FM) carrier frequency is roughly 2200 Hz. It is especially interesting that on 2017-03-19, prior to 14:25:12 UTC, the instrument recorded an 11 minute sequence of 20.3 Hz ELF outbursts that culminated intimately with a 3.2 magnitude earthquake located a few miles west of Bardwell KY. These ~20.3 Hz ELF signals, very near the third Schumann resonance frequency, have been recorded numerous times. They are distinctive and fairly strong, ranging 15 to 30 db or more above the noise floor, but definitely not an every-day event;months can pass without them. So far most of these ELF signals do not have an intimately associated earthquake, with the event of 2017-03-19 being one of only two exceptions recorded thus far. That quake’s location was more than one hundred miles from the instrument, in the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ). The second case, a quake in Kansas, was about three times farther from the instrument, and its ELF signals were correspondingly weaker. Those other, unassociated electromagnetic events might come from quakes too weak to detect, but it should be noted that stronger, easily detected quakes also rarely exhibit any ELF/seismic “connectivity”. This paper describes an instrument that overlays ELF, electric field and seismic signals. The instrument’s two-dimensional (2D) output has a time axis (horizontal) resolution of ~3 seconds and an ELF frequency (vertical) resolution of ~0.3 Hz.展开更多
