Background Cervical cancer is the only cancer that can be eliminated worldwide.Tracking the latest burden of cervical cancer is critical toward the targets set by World Health Organization(WHO)to eliminate cervical ca...Background Cervical cancer is the only cancer that can be eliminated worldwide.Tracking the latest burden of cervical cancer is critical toward the targets set by World Health Organization(WHO)to eliminate cervical cancer as a major public health problem.Methods All data were extracted from the Global Cancer Observatory(GLOBOCAN)2022.Age-standardized incidence rate(ASIR)and mortality rates(ASMR)of cervical cancer were compared and linked to Human Development Index(HDI)between populations.The estimated annual percentage changes(EAPCs)were used to characterize the temporal trend in ASIR/ASMR,and demographic estimates were projected up to 2050.Results Globally,an estimated 662,044 cases(ASIR:14.12/100,000)and 348,709 deaths(ASMR:7.08/100,000)from cervical cancer occurred in 2022,corresponding to the fourth cause of cancer morbidity and mortality in women worldwide.Specifically,42%of cases and 39%of deaths occurred in China(23%and 16%)and India(19%and 23%).Both ASIR and ASMR of cervical cancer decreased with HDI,and similar decreasing links were observed for both early-onset(0–39 years)and late-onset(≥40 years)cervical cancer.Both ASIR and ASMR of overall cervical cancer showed decreasing trends during 2003–2012(EAPC:0.04%and-1.03%);however,upward trends were observed for early-onset cervical cancer(EAPC:1.16%and 0.57%).If national rates in 2022 remain stable,the estimated cases and deaths from cervical cancer are projected to increase by 56.8%and 80.7%up to 2050.Moreover,the projected increase of early-onset cervical cancer is mainly observed in transitioning countries,while decreased burden is expected in transitioned countries.Conclusions Cervical cancer remains a common cause of cancer death in many countries,especially in transitioning countries.Unless scaling-up preventive interventions,human papillomavirus(HPV)vaccination and cervical cancer screening,as well as systematic cooperation within government,civil societies,and private enterprises,the global burden of cervical cancer would be expected to increase in the future.展开更多
Climate change is significantly impacting cotton production in the Tarim River Basin.The study investigated the climate change characteristics from 2021 to 2100 using climate change datasets simulated per the coupled ...Climate change is significantly impacting cotton production in the Tarim River Basin.The study investigated the climate change characteristics from 2021 to 2100 using climate change datasets simulated per the coupled model inter-comparison project phase six(CMIP6)climatic patterns under the shared socioeconomic pathways SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5.The DSSAT-CROPGROCotton model,along with stepwise multiple regression analyses,was used to simulate changes in the potential yield of seed cotton due to climate change.The results show that while future temperatures in the Tarim River Basin will rise significantly,changes in precipitation and radiation during the cotton-growing season are minimal.Seed cotton yields are more sensitive to low temperatures than to precipitation and radiation.The potential yield of seed cotton under the SSP2-4.5 scenario would increase by 14.8%,23.7%,29.0%,and 29.4%in the 2030S,2050S,2070S,and 2090S,respectively.In contrast,under the SSP5-8.5 scenario,the potential yield of seed cotton would see increases of 17.5%,27.1%,30.1%,and 22.6%,respectively.Except for the 2090s under the SSP5-8.5 scenario,future seed cotton production can withstand a 10%to 20%deficit in irrigation.These findings will help develop climate change adaptation strategies for cotton cultivation.展开更多

Deeply buried mountain tunnels are often exposed to the risk of rock bursts,which always cause serious damage to the supporting structures and threaten the safety of the engineers.Due to the limited data available,a s...Deeply buried mountain tunnels are often exposed to the risk of rock bursts,which always cause serious damage to the supporting structures and threaten the safety of the engineers.Due to the limited data available,a suitable approach to predict the rockburst tendency at the preliminary stage becomes very important.In this study,an integrated methodology combining 3D initial stress inversion and rockburst tendency prediction was developed and subsequently applied to a case study of the Sangzhuling Tunnel on the Sichuan–Tibet Railway.The numerical modelling involved inverting the initial stress field using a multiple linear regression method.The tunnel excavation was simulated separately by FDM and DEM,based on a stress boundary condition from the inverted stress field.The comparative analysis demonstrates that the rockburst ratio calculated using DEM(76.70%)exhibits a slight increase compared to FDM(75.38%),and the rockburst location is consistent with the actual situation.This suggests that DEM is more suitable for simulating the stress redistribution during excavation in a jointed rock mass.The numerical simulation combined with the deviatoric stress approach effectively predicts rockburst tendency,meeting the engineering requirements.Despite its limitations,numerical simulation remains a reliable method for predicting rock bursts.展开更多
Mental healthcare in Ethiopia is underutilized due to a lack of resources and skilled practitioners.Psychological counselling offers unique intervention possibilities because of its focus on a wide range of mental hea...Mental healthcare in Ethiopia is underutilized due to a lack of resources and skilled practitioners.Psychological counselling offers unique intervention possibilities because of its focus on a wide range of mental health and social justice issues.This literature review tracks the historical development of the profession of psychological counselling in Ethiopia to establish what has been achieved to date and the development challenges.Key achievements include recognition of the profession by the Ministry of Education,growing public awareness,and increasing capacity of practitioners skilled in psychological counselling.Challenges include limited contextually relevant training,poor representation of the profession within Ministry of Health policies,poor public and government mental health literacy,and a lack of regulatory frameworks.Postgraduate training would benefit from more culturally,contextually,and linguistically appropriate evidence-based,indigenous psychology practices.The profession would benefit from engagement in government policy development that promotes mental health,and professional regulatory bodies to hold practitioners accountable to professional standards and ethical practice.展开更多
