Metok,located in Nyingchi,the Xizang Autonomous Region,is known as the last county in China to be connected by road.Poor transportation and limited access to petroleum were two obstacles to its development.As soon as the highway connecting Metok and the outside world was completed in 2014,China National Petroleum Corporation’s(CNPC)first gas station in the county was put into operation,providing the momentum for this"secret land of Lotus"and helping it embark on a journey toward openness and prosperity.
