In this work,an approach is proposed to acquire synonymous attribute phrases of named entities(NEs) from an online encyclopedia.Synonymous attribute phrases are the phrases that express the same attribute with differe...In this work,an approach is proposed to acquire synonymous attribute phrases of named entities(NEs) from an online encyclopedia.Synonymous attribute phrases are the phrases that express the same attribute with different surface forms for a class of NEs.Specifically,the proposed approach is composed of three stages.Firstly,the entries related to a given NE class are automatically selected from an online encyclopedia.Secondly,attribute phrases are extracted based on the statistics of phrase frequency.Thirdly,synonymous attributes are identified in a pairwise manner through a classification framework combining multiple features.The proposed approach is applied on Baidu Baike,a Chinese online encyclopedia,for four different NE classes.Experimental results show that the approach obtains an average precision of 74%and an average F-value of 65%for the four NE classes.In particular,thousands of synonymous attribute phrase pairs are acquired for each class,which demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed approach.展开更多

BACKGROUND Although thymopoietin(TMPO)has been elucidated to be overexpressed in cancers,its underlying mechanisms are not yet fully understood.AIM To investigate the expression and clinical significance of TMPO in pa...BACKGROUND Although thymopoietin(TMPO)has been elucidated to be overexpressed in cancers,its underlying mechanisms are not yet fully understood.AIM To investigate the expression and clinical significance of TMPO in papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC).METHODS Databases such as Gene Expression Omnibus,The Cancer Genome Atlas Proand summary receiver operating characteristic curves were plotted to evaluate diagnostic performance.A Gene Set Enrichment Analysis enrichment analysis was conducted to identify TMPO-related signaling pathways.A protein interaction network was constructed to identify hub genes.The impact of TMPO on PTC cell proliferation and the effects of its knockout were analyzed using clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)knockout screening and the Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia database.RESULTS The TMPO protein was significantly overexpressed in PTC tissues,primarily localized in the cytoplasm and nuclear membrane.The mRNA level analysis showed mild overexpression of TMPO in PTC tissues,with a certain discriminatory value(area under the curve=0.66).TMPO may promote cancer through involvement in cell adhesion,focal adhesion,leukocyte migration,and multiple cancer-related signaling pathways.Additionally,CRISPR gene knockout experiments confirmed that TMPO knockout significantly inhibited the proliferation of PTC cell lines,indicating its important role in tumor growth.CONCLUSION TMPO is overexpressed in PTC and may serve as a therapeutic target and molecular biomarker for PTC.展开更多
Online encyclopedias such as Wikipedia provide a large and growing number of articles on many topics.However,the content of many articles is still far from complete.In this paper,we propose Ency Catalog Rec,a system t...Online encyclopedias such as Wikipedia provide a large and growing number of articles on many topics.However,the content of many articles is still far from complete.In this paper,we propose Ency Catalog Rec,a system to help generate a more comprehensive article by recommending catalogs.First,we represent articles and catalog items as embedding vectors,and obtain similar articles via the locality sensitive hashing technology,where the items of these articles are considered as the candidate items.Then a relation graph is built from the articles and the candidate items.This is further transformed into a product graph.So,the recommendation problem is changed to a transductive learning problem in the product graph.Finally,the recommended items are sorted by the learning-to-rank technology.Experimental results demonstrate that our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance on catalog recommendation in both warm-and cold-start scenarios.We have validated our approach by a case study.展开更多
