This shift happened so i...In a short time, during the early phases of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, we managed to shift rapidly to use digital technologies and replace some of our daily operations with virtual modes. This shift happened so instantly and widely that it enables us to argue that the COVID-19 became a valid reason to boost some of the gradual and ongoing transitions towards faster transformations. In this study, we use gray literature to delve into arguments around the boost for digitization, digitalization, and systems thinking in the development of the built environment. This is mostly discussed from the influence of COVID-19 on some of the existing practices or the business-as-usual of the built environment sector. From technological advancement to technology use, these arguments are put forward to discuss what is likely to be the major driver of technological adoption and the shifting paradigms that are yet to be revealed. The study concludes that the current push towards new directions and development pathways are likely to be widely accepted in a shorter time. The findings of this brief study feed into existing arguments on transformative pathways due to the COVID-19 pandemic.展开更多
Public participation in public procurement is an important guarantee for its sustainable and healthy operation.In the era of digital economy and big data,public participation in information disclosure,service quality,...Public participation in public procurement is an important guarantee for its sustainable and healthy operation.In the era of digital economy and big data,public participation in information disclosure,service quality,and service pricing in public procurement plays an important role.Public private partnerships are an innovative form of public procurement.This study sorts out the issues of public participation in PPP projects,and puts forward several suggestions based on data thinking.In terms of public procurement project information disclosure,big data technology is used to improve the timeliness and breadth of information disclosure,and enhance the professionalism of information disclosure.Performance-oriented public procurement focuses on service quality,and guarantees service security through information platforms and professional third parties.The stakeholders use big data to supervise social organizations,so that they actively represent the public to file lawsuits in public procurement and relieve the public’s damaged rights and interests.The protection of the public’s right to know,suggest and supervise is inseparable from the training of professional talents by universities.Colleges and universities attach great importance to the cultivation of big data-oriented public procurement professionals,which includes improving teachers’teaching ability,building a new knowledge system that combines big data and public procurement,and setting professional courses for students at different learning stages through connotative development.展开更多

In the rapidly evolving landscape of digital transformation and industrial integration,higher education faces the challenge of cultivating applied talents equipped with interdisciplinary knowledge,engineering skills,a...In the rapidly evolving landscape of digital transformation and industrial integration,higher education faces the challenge of cultivating applied talents equipped with interdisciplinary knowledge,engineering skills,and innovative thinking.Traditional teaching models often fail to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application,resulting in passive learning and limited problem-solving capabilities.This paper proposes a three-dimensional integrated teaching model centered on“Information Technology-Domain Knowledge-Outcome Production”(the“2+2+2”credit framework)to address these challenges.Drawing on constructivist theories,Bloom’s Taxonomy,and the CDIO model,the framework uses real projects to drive learning,facilitating the seamless integration of theoretical teaching and practical innovation.The model emphasizes tiered teaching objectives and interdisciplinary pathways,supported by dynamic assessment systems that track students’growth in knowledge,skills,and abilities.Applied in smart health and financial technology domains,this approach enhances students’comprehensive capabilities,aligning educational outcomes with industry demands.This study offers replicable strategies for educational reform in new engineering disciplines,aiming to transform students into proactive innovators and versatile talents.展开更多
Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to explain how the introduction of the Internet and digital tools renews and enriches John Dewey’s experimentalist model for teaching and learning with particular attention to the...Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to explain how the introduction of the Internet and digital tools renews and enriches John Dewey’s experimentalist model for teaching and learning with particular attention to the place of and resources for higher order thinking.Design/Approach/Methods-The methods include a close exposition of Dewey’s classical texts,and a thought experiment introducing ICT elements into Dewey’s design diagrams for teaching and learning.Findings-Dewey’s model has inherent difficulties,and that digital technologies helps resolve them.Originality/Value-With the Internet and new digital tools,teachers can design new virtual learning spaces and learning activities.Learners can use online information and communication tools to act more effectively using higher-order thinking skills.展开更多
